Coleridge Community School — Cambridge

Diagram illustrating a Strategic Estate Plan for the school with the new Hall space at its heart.

Diagram showing the projects that emerge from the strategy: the creation of a new heart for the school, a swap to create a new technology wing and a new Learning Resource Centre, and the creation of upper floor accommodation for laboratory and administration space. These three new-build projects were associated with projects to strengthen external spaces, and works to upgrade the existing fabric of the school.

Overview of the three new spaces at the heart of the school the Sports Hall, Main Hall and Courtyard.

The proposed sports hall is designed to provide a 4 court Sport England Standard Sport Hall with appropriate storage. The School Head of Sports has expressed a desire to make the hall suitable for cricket use, and to incorporate a climbing wall element. Balconies will allow high level viewing.

The flexible use hall is intended for multipurpose school use and for use by a variety of potential ‘extended school’ activities.

The hall will be primarily lit from the east during day light hours with a large opening screen elevation to the Quad.

The Quad, an enclosed courtyard with a different character to the playground areas to the west of the site provides calm external spaces for the learning centre.
